(Parenthetically...)

Aparently, as evidenced by all of my previous (two) posts, I also have a penchant for parenthetical statements (in addition to the use of elipses). Those of you who know me will note that I speak similarly...I often start three sentences before I finish one.

Some writing and punctuation purists may find these habits annoying (even I find them a bit annoying when I go back and re-read my own posts...all two of them...).

It is 1:30 a.m. Is pointing this out to you (my four readers) really so important that I need to be awake at this hour??? I think not... Good Night.

Bumper Stickers & Who Am I?

No one's probably listening anymore...maybe I like it better that way...

Who am I? What do I want?
Hell if I know.
My dad didn't even bother to show up to my birthday dinner - first time I've been in town for my b-day in 11 years. (that's my explanation for why I don't know what I want or who I am...)

I was working on a little word project a while back.
(This has something to do with who I am...)
I've always wanted to put some bumper stickers on my car (I love bumper stickers) but have been unwilling to really commit to anything enought to stick it on there (typical...)
Then I saw a sticker that just said "simplify" - I like that.
It got me to thinking, what single word imperative verb statements could I make with bumper stickers that would make the world a better place if everyone paid attention...
I made a long list on a paper bag, which is hopefully still somewhere in my car.
I still really like "Simplify." ( I hate the fact that periods go inside the quotation marks, but I just can't bring myself to put them outside either...I'm most inclined to leave them off all togheter. I've gotten a bit obsessive about punctuation lately...strange. Ok, back to the point...)

Here are some other possibilities:
Resist (that's my second favorite)
Reconcile
Participate
Care
Wait
Listen
Stand
Appreciate
Wonder

Rebecca pointed out that these are very vague - "Resist what?" "Care about what?" Somehow I don't think it matters...I guess my main point is avoid apathy.

In the end I though maybe I could make three stickers that say:
Love Mercy
Seek Justice
Walk Humbly
Not very original, I know, but quite solid and not vague. I think I could stand pretty unequivocally behind those bumper stickers.

I think we should all have a big party on the day I finally actually put a bumper sticker on my car... I think it will be a significant mile stone.

The first reason why I didn't create a blog earlier

1...you've got to give the blasted thing some clever name. Too much pressure. (The whole thought of a blog seems like pressure, but I'm feeling like pressure is doing me some good these days, so I'll see how it goes...)

My Blog disclaimer...

I will use a lot of ellipses...so if that is going to bug you, stay away. You have been warned...

The definition of "ellipsis" - a mark indicating an intentional omission of words or letters, a lapse of time, etc.

I take full advantage of that "etc." at the end of the definition there.
